The Cost Of Care

We charge by the hour, or for specific tasks. There is generally no charge for the consultant's travel time to and from an initial meeting or facilty assessment. You approve individual charges before they are incurred. You will never receive an unbudgetted bill from us.

Note that long-term care insurance policies often cover the costs of a geriatric care manager, but Medicare does not.

A Care Manager can save money by connecting families to useful community resources, including free ones, and steering them away from expensive living arrangements, where fees may quickly rise without warning.

We conduct care planning assessments to identify problems, eligibility for assistance, and the need for additional services. We screen, recruit, arrange and monitor in-home help or other services. We review medical and social issues and offer referrals to other specialists when appropriate. We provide crisis information. We act as a liaison to families at a distance, making sure things are going well and alerting families to problems. We assist with the difficult adjustment to a retirement complex, care home, or nursing home. We offer advice and support. We make home visits and keep families informed.
